Indeed, the King of Spain recently visited a Colombian restaurant owned by Tatiana Wandurraga, a Colombian native from Bucaramanga, located in the city of Vielha, Catalonia.
A Colombian restaurant seduces the King of Spain
The Fogon del Valle restaurant, opened by Tatiana Wandurraga and her husband, from Romania, is the accomplishment of her over 20 years of life in Spain. Five years ago, they decided to open a restaurant that combines Colombian and Spanish cuisines, offering a unique dining experience.
The family run restaurant sees Tatiana, her husband, her father and her grandmother all taking part, with the latter two contributing their cooking skills.
The menu features local specialties such as goat cheese and blood sausage, alongside Colombian favorites like the bandeja paisa, patacones, arepas and sancocho.
Colombians in Spain
It is not the first time that Colombians in Spain have gained attention for their cuisine. In Madrid, for instance, Elizabeth Delgado, a Colombian native from Buga, has been offering Colombian flavors since 1997 in her restaurant, Patacon Pisao.
Indeed, Spain is home to an important Colombian community, the largest in Europe. According to official data from 2022, there are currently 568,034 Colombians living in Spain. The majority are concentrated in Madrid, and in the Catalonia and Valencia communities.
