Colombia has announced the launch of the GW ERCO SHIMANO cycling team, a formidable collaboration between GW, a leading Colombian bicycle manufacturer; Erco, a pioneer in clean energy generation; and Shimano, a renowned cycling components brand. The 100% Colombian squad, set to compete in the Continental UCI category, comprises promising national cycling talents.

This cycling ensemble brings together rising stars in Colombian cycling. Notable team members include Alejandro Osorio, Diego Pescador, Daniel Arroyave, and Adrian Bustamante, each possessing international race experience, showcasing their potential to represent Colombia on the global stage.

Elite and Sub23 roster

Complementing the core team are Edgar Andres Pinzon, Frank Yair Osorio, Juan Carlos Lopez, and a roster of Sub23 talents, including Brandon Alejandro Rojas, William Colorado Osorio, Andres Libardo Mancipe, Jefferson Armando Ruiz, Juan Sebastian Pinilla, Oscar Santiago Garzon, Cristian Damian Velez, Robinson Fabian Lopez, and Lukas Blanco. Guiding this formidable lineup is experienced cycling professional Luis Alfonso Cely, emphasizing the team’s commitment to supporting Colombian cyclists in achieving their goals.

The GW ERCO SHIMANO team kicked off the season on a high note by clinching victory at the Feria de Manizales circuit. Alejandro Osorio and Diego Pescador secured the first and second positions, respectively, demonstrating their prowess in the cycling arena.

The team is currently embarking on its first international challenge at the Vuelta al Tachira, which began on January 14 and concludes on January 21. This marks a significant step for the GW ERCO SHIMANO team as they test their mettle against international competition.

Sustainable team identity

The distinctive uniform, inspired by nature and clean energy, features green, white, and black colors aligned with the sponsoring brands’ institutional images and a commitment to sustainability. Jorge Hernan Aristizabal, general manager of HA Bicicletas, the company owning GW, emphasized the team’s philosophy of discovering new talents and supporting their visibility.

Juan Camilo Lopez, co-founder and manager of Erco Energia, highlighted the team’s alignment with sustainability and cycling development in Colombia. The GW ERCO SHIMANO project aims to raise awareness for sustainable actions while strengthening the sport and supporting aspiring young cyclists.

Upcoming events

As the team sets its sights on a promising season, key events on their schedule include the Tour Colombia, Vuelta Tolima, and Clasico RCN, among others. The team’s participation in both national and international competitions underscores its dedication to showcasing Colombian cycling prowess on a global platform.
