“Cocina de casa,” by the Colombian-German Chef Tatiana Held secured the top spot at the Gourmand World Cooking Awards in Saudi Arabia. The self-published work received the award for Best Self-Published Book and ranked fourth globally for its book design, featuring images by the renowned photographer Jorge H. Gonzalez Gutierrez.
From pandemic project to winning the best cookbook award
Tatiana Held, an industrial designer, presented her book a few months ago. It’s a collection of favorite recipes designed to be shared with friends and family. Divided into sections such as Cravings, Snacks, Weekend Meals, Flavors from Afar, Everyday Recipes, Sweets, and Crowd-Pleasers, the book originated as a pandemic project. Tatiana gained recognition by sharing recipes on social media, which she had collected during her travels and events.
In a recent interview, Tatiana expressed her excitement about the nomination, stating, “I’m thrilled that my book is nominated for these awards because it started as a pandemic project, born out of the need to share my home recipes with friends and family, detailing my travels and roots as a multicultural cook.”
