The ‘Empanada Fest,’ a culinary festival celebrating the creativity and talent of the city’s fast food providers, takes place November 15th to 19th, in Bogota, Colombia. For five days, over 120 neighborhood establishments and 17 restaurants from the District Market Squares will come together to offer their best gastronomic proposals in empanadas.
The event presents itself as an opportunity to reactivate the local economy and discover a wide variety of flavors, shapes, and preparations of this iconic Colombian fast food dish. From the typical empanadas to the most innovative ones, visitors can indulge in a broad range of options, from traditional to versions like tamal, chocoramo, lechona, vegetarian, crispy, or baked.
Boosting the economy
The District Secretary of Government, Jose David Riveros, highlights the festival’s importance as a boost for the economy of market squares and street food establishments. This event, a result of collaboration between various institutions and local governments, aims to stimulate the popular and neighborhood economy through this inaugural edition of the Empanada Fest.
On the other hand, the director of the Institute for Social Economy (IPES), Alejandro Rivera, emphasizes the opportunity to share traditions and support entrepreneurs in the gastronomic sector. He invites everyone to enjoy the wide variety of empanadas available in emblematic points across the city.
