Colombian Artists Unite at the Magisterial Folk and Cultural Gathering 2023

The inauguration of the Colombian Magisterial Folk and Cultural Gathering was a symphony of color, joy, and cultural vibrancy. An annual tradition, this event brings together teachers, school administrators, and staff to highlight their skills and talents, focusing on cultural activities and the safeguarding of the nation’s heritage.

This year the event took place at the central auditorium of the University of Atlántico in Barranquilla, attracting over 800 educators representing 29 delegations that had successfully advanced through municipal and departmental stages.

A collaborative effort between the Ministry of Education, the Colombian Federation of Education Workers (Fecode), and the Ministry of Culture, the event aims to integrate educational leaders, teachers, and staff from official educational institutions in Colombia under the umbrella of the teacher well-being program.

Its objectives extend to favoring the preservation of art and culture, promoting education as a transformative axis, and nurturing artistic thinking for the construction of a society with fresh perspectives. This enrichment is intended to benefit the country through diversity and cultural heritage, fostering a sense of belonging and an increased cultural legacy for future generations.

Artistic and cultural experiences

The Magisterial Folklore and Cultural Gathering 2023 will run until November 15, featuring categories such as Dance, Music, Theater, Oral Tradition, and Painting. The agenda includes alternate spaces on the second day, where educators will collaborate with the Ministry of Education’s Integral Training team to integrate their artistic and cultural experiences into classroom teachings.

The event also seeks to understand the experiences and impact of the practices of teachers from the delegations in artistic and cultural education, Integral Training, and the increase in learning opportunities for students.

Over three days of artistic presentations and painting exhibitions, the Ministry of Education endeavors to strengthen, maintain, and optimize the conditions that facilitate the comprehensive development of educators, enhancing their quality of life and that of their families.
