Colombia’s President Petro stated today via X that his absence from an event in Quibdo, Choco, was due to a painful injury sustained when he fell in Cartagena on Monday.
The President was silent on social media last weekend right after announcing the suspension of international relations with Israel: “If foreign relations with Israel have to be suspended, we suspend them. We do not support genocide.”
While letting people know the situation he was in, and showing a picture of his wound, President Gustavo Petro decided to re-schedule his meeting in Chocó.
“At this moment there is a conflict between Palestine and Israel and the President had to stay in Bogota to resolve international relations issues that will surely be reported later in the media,” said Lizcano.
This contradiction has outraged several users in the X platform, who say that Mauricio Lizcano lied “shamelessly” to the people in Chocó about the reason for President Petro’s absence. Neither President Petro nor the Minister of Technologies have spoken yet about the contradiction between their statements.
